Digitalising workplace experiences

Digitalising workplace experiences
EY Australia
The Brief
In this project, we undertook a design sprint focusing on problem definition and ideation, in order to examine the onboarding process at EY and to propose improvements. Looking specifically at an employee’s experience of the first 100 days at EY in Melbourne, and specifically in the digital team, this project asked: how might we improve the onboarding experience for the EY Digital team in Melbourne?

In week 1 of the design sprint, we conducted a group interview with a number of EY employees to inquire their onboarding experiences. The interviewees consisted of newcomers on various levels, from graduate hires to senior-level talents. We were also required to design the interview in order to obtain valuable insights within a limited time.

After the interview, we consolidated the employees’ responses and moved on to design ideation, to identify which problem that we can propose to solve. We began by forming a current-state journey map. This method was used to gave us a clearer visualisation of the insights we gained from the conversations we had with the employees. From this process, we came up with a minimum-viable-product (MVP) — EY+.

Future-state journey map for graduate hires that we proposed when integrated EY+ in their onboarding processes.
EY+
EY+ is a one-stop reference hub for newly hired EY employees to get around knowing the how-to’s in a new workplace environment. From filling up timesheets for offsite projects, to a library of training modules. EY+ aims to effectively eliminate the most trivial questions newcomers might have about workplace procedures.
EY Buddy
EY+ also acts as a communication point for new employees with their Buddy that has been assigned to them during orientation. This space affords both mentor and mentee to be on top of their communication. Say goodbye to awkward moments where Buddies might have never met each other months into the onboarding process!
Live the EY Life
EY+ is designed to give employees freedom and control on their experiences in the workplace. With EY+ consolidating all the tedious aspects of adapting to a new environment, employees can focus on the being and performing their best.
